A GoBeGreat Award was presented to Principal Henry Darby from North Charleston High School after his extraordinary efforts to help students in need.
Darby not only exhibits greatness and leadership every day on campus, but he works a second job solely to raise funds. He began secretly stocking shelves at Walmart on overnight shifts in order to contribute to his students and former students that needed a bit of extra help.
While Darby never intended for his work to receive attention, his story recently went viral resulting in a $50,000 donation from Walmart.
“I didn’t expect the attention,” he said during a recent interview with WCBD. “I simply wanted to work for Walmart without fanfare and to use those resources for my students.”
